ANGELA:
You’re listening to the Business and Life Conversations Podcast with Angela Henderson, Episode 90.
Hey there, you’re listening to the Business and Life Conversations Podcast. My name is Angela Henderson and on this show, we talk about improving your business, life or both, by having amazing and rich conversations with brilliant guests who will inspire you and who will give you tips and tricks to help you grow both in life and in business.
Well, hey there and welcome back to another awesome episode with the Business and Life Conversations Podcast. I am your host Ange, from Angela Henderson Consulting where I am a Business Consultant and Coach who has helped hundreds of amazing women business owners get all the pieces in place to have consistent five-figure months and then on to six-figure years without burning out in the process.
So today is going to be a solo episode. It’s just me and you hanging out together, talking about how to increase sales and get more clients and customers with challenge marketing. It’s going to be short, but a punchy episode, talking about one key strategy I’ve used over the last ten years of being in business to not only increase sales but to increase my email list, build my trust, credibility and authority. So sit back, pour yourself a wine, coffee, or whatever you choose because you’re going to want to hear this episode.
As many of you know or have experienced first-hand in the first few years of business, entrepreneurs and small business owners come up against a lot of different challenges. Let’s repeat that; a lot of different challenges. And let’s be honest, some of these challenges are harder than others to overcome. Can I get an amen from those of you out there? Like, “Hell, yes, Ange. Running a business and dealing with challenges every day, every month, every week, every whatever is hard as fuck.”
And it’s even easier to understand why businesses are faced with so many challenges when the data tells us this; 20% of small businesses are failing by the end of the first year, and by the end of the fifth year, 50% go under, and by the end of the tenth year, the number rises to 80%. These numbers are mind-blowing, crazy.
So over the last few years, via asking in my very active Facebook group, The Australian Business Collaborative, or surveying my current and past clients, and to speaking with my business friends at masterminds, etc. I wanted to find out what business owners feel is their biggest challenge.
Can you guess what they reported? I’ll wait for you. Just kidding. Sales – sales was their biggest problem. They were struggling on how to increase sales and get more clients and customers. And I thought, “Hold on a minute, I can help people fix this problem. I can help people to create a strategy so they can increase sales and get more clients and customers because I’ve done it myself with my first business, and then, again, with my current business.”
My solution? Teaching other businesses, regardless if they’re a service-based business or an e-comm business to set up their very own 5, 3-day, 7-day, 20-day, whatever training and/or challenge. So you might be saying, “Well, what the heck is a 3, 5, 7-day training and challenge going to do to help me with my business, Ange? How is this possibly going to increase sales and get more clients?”
Keep with me as I’m going to explain really quickly and very simply what a challenge and training is, what the types of challenges that you potentially can use for your own business by giving you some examples. I also want to give me some solid case studies of different challenges that I’ve done throughout the years, but equally what some of my friends have done in order for them to increase their own sales and get more clients and customers.
So you might be saying, “Ange, what is a challenge?” Ultimately, what a challenge is and/or a training, it depends on; I use the word challenge and training universally because different people like different words. So to me, running a challenge or running a training is this: It helps to solve a problem that your audience is going through by creating a 3, 5, 7-day, 14-day or 30 days’ worth of content, alright?
And then what happens is when you’re doing this challenge and you’ve created that content and you’re delivering it to that audience, you are going to help guide them, inspire them, and motivate them. You are their teacher. That’s the whole essence; you’re showcasing your experience, your credibility, your authority; and to move them from a very painful spot in their life and business or whatever that is, and moving them to a solution. And ultimately, for yourself, what you’re doing is you’re moving them through that solution, is you’re moving them to becoming one of your customers, alright?
Now, you might be saying, “Okay, Ange. This all sounds well and good, but give me some examples of types of challenges.” Now, there are a variety of different challenges and trainings that I could talk about. One of the ones that I ran with my first business, Finlee and Me, was 30-Days, 30-Ways To Connect with Your Child. So in these 30 days, I delivered 30 different ways every single day that a parent connect with their child in a five-minute activity. It was absolutely amazing.
I also have a friend of mine, Zach Spuckler, who runs the free 5-Day Live Training, or the 5-Day Challenge you can flip into a five-figure launch. My friends, The Merrymakers, who are also speaking at my 4-Day, 3-Night Women in Business Retreat have the Lunch Break Challenge where they talk to you about how you can get moving into your lunch break.
I also have the free, as I just talked about, the 3-Day Challenge on Discover How to Increase Sales and Get More Clients. I’ve also got; a friend of mine, Stevie Dillon has The Complete Road Map to Social Media Success. And I originally learned about challenge marketing through someone by the name of Jadah Sellner over in the United States when I was at an event called Problogger two years ago called; she does the 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge.
So as you can see, there are a variety of different challenges and/or trainings that you can do for your audience, again, moving them from a pain, which could be, “How the hell do I set up this Facebook ad? How the hell do I do my social media? How the heck do I connect with my child? How the heck do I get moving?” All of those pain points where people were feeling when these friends of mine created these trainings and challenges.
A case that I wanted to share is my friend, Zach, who created the free 5-Day Live Training Build a 5-Day Challenge You Can Flip Into A 5-Figure Launch. What he did is he had over 2,200 people sign up for that challenge and 55 people purchased resulting in $54,834 dollars USD he made on that particular training.
Stevie Dillon who lives here in Australia, when she did The Complete Roadmap to Social Media Success, she had 2,500 people sign up; 160 people purchased, resulting in an Aussie grand total of sales in $95,520 with results in a 6.4 conversion.
When I ran my first challenge a few years ago here in the consulting space on Discover How To Increase Sales and Get More Clients, I had 225 people sign up, which resulted in 10 people purchasing my offer, which was a grand total of $22,198 dollars.
So as you can see, depending on what type of challenges, whether or not it’s an e-comm platform, or whether or not it’s a service-based, these challenges are opening up doors for you to really grow your business, right? To really bring in different things to your business.
And why does a challenge work so well? Well, it brings in new people into your ecosystem, into your community, so that people can start to know you, what you do, and how you can help them. It allows relationship building, it allows for you to really build that trust, that credibility and authority. It allows you to build your email list, alright? It allows you to increase your visibility, increase your reach, increase your sales.
So challenge marketing is one of the most amazing and effective both short-term and long-term ways to grow your business. So these stats and benefits have left you wondering, “How the hell, Ange, do Il set up my own to 3-day, 5-day, 7-day training?” Don’t worry because I’m here to help you out. How? Thank you for asking.
On March 16th, 2020, I’m going to be running my very own 3-day training and sharing with you exactly how to create your own training and challenge for your own community, regardless if you’re e-comm or service-based. During the 3-day training, what I’m going to teach you is you’re going to discover ultimately the following:
You’re going to get the step-by-step blueprint to create your own 3-day, 5-day, 7-day challenge. You’re going to learn why challenges even more in-depth from what I’ve just talked are so effective in bringing in new paying clients while also discovering the common pitfalls and mistakes that most entrepreneurs make when designing their own challenges and training.
I’m also going to be showing you guys the tools and resources to supercharge your challenge. I’m going to show the exact software and tools you need to bring your challenge to life. These tools are going to make your life so much easier when setting up your challenge and/or training. So when it comes to setting it up, you’ll be having it up in record time.
And I’m also ultimately going to be able to; after the 3-day training, you’re going to have your own map that you’re going to have to be able to potentially walk away and do this on your own. In just three days, you will identify the best challenge topic to attract a dream to work with clients, plan an easy to implement challenge outline so you know exactly what you’ll teach, plus, you’ll learn how to market and promote your challenge in a way that’s easiest for you and best for your budget.
Again, I cannot emphasize enough how beneficial running these challenges and trainings have been, not only for my business, but businesses that I shared with you today, and ultimately, your business.
Now, you can sign up for the challenge that I’m going to be holding on March 16th, my three-day training by heading to bit.ly/threedaytrainingwithange. Again, that link is bit.ly/threedaytrainingwithange. Spots are limited because I like to keep my training group small, concise, and so that each of you guys can get some hands-on, really practical support in order to make sure you have everything you need after those three days in order to go and implement your own three-day training challenge.
And again, when I say three-day training, that’s what works for me, but as you’re going to learn in that training that I do is yours might be better off having a five-day training, a ten-day training, and we’ll talk about that more in-depth when I teach you guys what amount of time frame is going to work best for your business.
It’s going to be an epic three days of training, but also an epic three days to be able to just connect with other like-minded businesses, bounce ideas off of there, build relationships.
And before we sign off, please remember, my team and I will also be putting together the whole transcription for this episode at angelahenderson.com.au. And again, in the transcription, again, all of these links in order for you to sign up for my three-day training on how to increase your own sales get more clients through creating your own challenge marketing.
